Flood Cut and Material Removal in Kingston Mines, IL

Flood Cut and Material Removal in Kingston Mines, IL

A flood cut is a horizontal cut through drywall above the water line, and where it lands is not arbitrary.

Gypsum wicks moisture upward well past where the water actually stopped, so cutting at the tide mark leaves wet material in the wall. Kingston Mines, IL Flood Cleanup cuts at the meter reading in Kingston Mines, IL properties, typically landing at 12 or 24 inches so the repair falls on a standard drywall dimension rather than requiring custom pieces.

Opening the cavity does two things. It removes contaminated or unsalvageable material, and it lets drying equipment reach the framing and the back of the opposite wall surface, which is where water hides longest.

Insulation behind the cut comes out. Wet fiberglass never recovers and will keep the cavity damp indefinitely if left.

We photograph the cavity before closing anything, so there is a record of what was behind the wall for you and your adjuster.
